City of Albany Poverty Reduction Initiative's RFP and Scholarship Fund

The City of Albany Poverty Reduction Initiative (CAPRI) has developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) for nonprofits, CBO's and other workforce development/training entities to use to access CAPRI grants for the purpose of providing job readiness training courses in partnership with employers or trade unions that lead to jobs or apprenticeships. 

The goal of the RFP is to serve the City of Albany's most vulnerable workers, defined as low-income adults and out of school youth, our goals are t o promote and facilitate, in partnership with community leaders and experts, coordination among workforce providers to maximize scare resources, engagement between workforce development providers, and trade unions, and employers in order to design training programs for real jobs in the community, and deliver effective programs that meet the needs of employers.

CAPRI has also created a scholarship fund and application process for individuals seeking training providing certification specialized job skills. 

Examples of qualified programs: Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Machinist); Electrician; Welding; Natural Gas Technician; Emergency Medical Technician; Massage Therapy; Esthetics/Cosmetology /Barbering; Heating/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technical Services (HVAC); Mortuary Science; Nursing; Health Sciences; Commercial Driver License (CDL); and many others.

CAPRI will host a Bidders' Conference to help answer any questions regarding the RFP and Scholarship process. Those entities seeking to submit a proposal are welcome to this information.

The Conference will take place on December 19, 2017 from 2:30- 4 p.m. at 200 Henry Johnson Blvd., 2nd Floor Conference Room.
