Middle school enrollment committee
to plan community forums
The City School District of Albany's Middle School Enrollment
Planning Committee will hold public forums to provide an opportunity for
community members to provide input into the development of a new
enrollment model that will be implemented beginning next school year.
The 30-member committee
presented two options at the Board of Education's Dec. 2 meeting -- a
feeder system, in which students from designated elementary schools
would continue on to designated middle schools, and a random school
assignment system in which all students would be assigned through an
annual, random, computer-generated process. You can
download the commitee's full presentation in .pdf format.
The committee was charged earlier this fall
with developing an enrollment
recommendation for 2009-10, when the district plans to
transition to two main middle schools. (MORE)

superintendent for secondary education. Dr. Diggs joined the district in
June after a 37-year career in York, Pa., where she served as
superintendent from 2005 until the end of last school year. Both
