Strategic Deployment UnitOverview
The Strategic Deployment Unit is comprised of one
Lieutenant, two Sergeants, 26 uniformed Albany Police Officers and 6 New York
State Troopers temporarily assigned under the IMPACT program. The members of the Strategic Deployment Unit
maintain a flexible schedule and are divided into two groups, the Focused
Mobile Interdiction and the Foot/Bike Patrol.
Both parts work together to maintain the primary focus of providing the
citizens of Albany with a highly visible proactive unit capable of addressing a
wide variety of concerns ranging from the fundamental values of community
policing to providing a large-scale supportive role in response to major crimes
of incidents.
