Domestic Violence UnitThe Albany Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit is housed within the Children and Family Services Unit. The DV Unit is comprised of two detectives, a civilian case coordinator, and a civilian advocate. In addition to investigating domestic violence incidents, the unit is responsible for the management of orders of protection. The members of the unit work closely with Domestic Violence Court located in City Criminal Court on Morton Avenue. The unit liaisons with outside agencies to insure DV victims are given the proper support and guidance through and after the court process.
