Stephen Reilly is a 14-year veteran of the City of Albany, NY Police Department holding the rank of Deputy Chief. Deputy Chief Reilly’s duties include overseeing the Department's Office of Professional Standards and the Emergency Services Team. 

Deputy Chief Reilly started his career as a patrol officer and has held the position of Detective, Patrol Sergeant, and Detective Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Unit, Detective Sergeant in the Children and Family Services Unit and Commander of the Office of Professional Standards, as well as Assistant Chief.  Prior to being promoted to the Rank of Commander he was an active member in the Albany Police Officers Union and held the positions of Unit Chairman, Grievance Committee Chairman, Sergeant at Arms, Vice-President and then President.

Stephen Reilly is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served four years of active duty on the USS Capodanno FF-1093.  While a member of the USS Capodanno, he was deployed overseas to various parts of the world including Italy, Israel, France, Turkey, Spain, Gibraltar, Scotland, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico.  Assistant Chief Reilly also served in the New York Army National Guard as an infantryman.

His proudest accomplishments are that of his three great kids.  He is active in his church and spends his free time coaching his children in various sports.  Of the titles he has held during his career the most important and meaningful is Dad.

Deputy Chief Reilly believes in providing strong leadership and demonstrating the importance of accountability while giving the supervisors under his command the freedom to solve problems and make decisions.
