HUDSON RIVER FAIR
September 26, 2009
Corning Preserve
12pm - 6pm

Mayor Jerry Jennings and the City of Albany invite you to experience the 17th Century! Take a trip back in time to when Dutch settlers and Native American roots began creating our remarkably rich history here in Albany. Cultures were introduced, goods were traded, crafts were made and family traditions were exchanged. Take a tour of Henry Hudson's ship the Halfmoon. Watch and learn from blacksmiths and witness modern artisans performing traditional craft techniques at the Dutch Encampment provided by the Dutch Settlers Society. Members of direct Mohican descendants the Stockbridge Munsee Tribe will honor us with Native American cultural demonstrations, dancers, singers, community drum traditions and history explained by tribal elders. Enjoy delicious foods, kids' activities and performances throughout the day, including culturally acknowledged and nationally acclaimed musical guests and dance performances. Witness stories that are hundreds of years old come to life.

Stage entertainment includes:

  • 12:00pm - 12:45pm: Tom Handford
  • 1:00pm - 1:15pm: Singers Nanna & Ankie from the Netherlands
  • 2:15pm - 3:15pm: eba Theatre's "Henry Hudson & His River"
  • 3:45pm - 4:45pm: Albany Pro Musica
  • 5:00pm - 6:00pm: Skip Parsons Riverboat Band
