Community Development Board
The Community Development Board combats substandard, unsanitary, blighted, and deteriorated urban areas through planning, reconstruction, redevelopment, rehabilitation, restoration and conservation. Duties of the board include applying for financial assistance from public and private sources, providing local grants-in-aid, acquiring property for public use, providing for demolition, clearance and improvement of property and preparing neighborhood renewal plans.
As set forth in the City of Albany Code the Community Development Board consists of seven members including the Mayor, Chief Fiscal Officer, Corporation Counsel, Common Council President, Director of Community Development, City Clerk and Director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity. Board members serve until the expiration of the Mayor’s term in office.
