Ward 5 - Hon. Mark Robinson
Mark Robinson was decisively elected to the Albany Common Council in 2014. He represents the 5th Ward which encompasses the Arbor Hill, West Hill and parts of the West End neighborhoods in the City of Albany.
Born to Eddie and Doris Robinson, Mark has been a lifelong Albany resident. Councilman Robinson was educated in the Albany Public School System. He studied Communications and Black Studies at the State University of New York at New Paltz. He went on to further his education attending Cumberland County College in Vineland, New Jersey. His thirst for knowledge led him to complete his education at Burlington County College in Pemberton, New Jersey. Mark is a builder, contractor and home improvement professional by trade.
As an active partner in community affairs, Councilman Robinson has conducted town hall meetings as well as community and home ownership workshops. He has held round table discussions regarding gentrification, health disparities, community revitalization and has organized information events in the 5th Ward. A strong advocate for community development, Councilman Robinson successfully spearheaded the revitalization of Historic Lexington Avenue, located in the heart of Arbor Hill. As Councilman, Mark initiated "Moving Our Community Forward: Community Reinvestment" which includes an agenda that focuses on improving the lives of residents of the 5th Ward.
In an effort to give back, Mark is committed to working for the betterment of his community by helping the less fortunate and undeserved. He has hosted food, clothing and toy drives, community cookouts and the Summer Love Youth Basketball Program. He is committed to raising the collective consciousness of the City of Albany to the plight of his constituents. Councilman Robinson currently resides in Albany and will continue to work hard to improve economic opportunities, housing, health care and education for the people of the 5th Ward.
