City Arts Commission
The availability of arts, music, culture and entertainment are important forces in the economy and vitality of a city. It is the City Arts Commission’s responsibility to evaluate applications by arts and cultural groups for arts grant funding and to make recommendations for City financial support.
In 2006 the City Arts Commission awarded a total of $350,000 in grants to arts, entertainment and cultural organizations.

Criteria for Arts Grants
- Each grant recipient must be a not-for-profit organization.
- each grant recipient is obligated to donate a service to the City of Albany.
- Each grant recipient will further be required to perform a service for one of the Albany City Schools. This service can be a performance, an informal talk, a lecture, demonstration or exhibit. There will be considerable flexibility as to the form the service may take.
- A year-end narrative progress report is also obligatory. It is due in our office on or before January 26, 2007. Each recipient must detail all activity from January 1, 2006 through December 19, 2006. This stipulation in the Arts Grant Agreement is a prerequisite for future funding.
